About the Trust

The present Trustees are:

The Trust is administered by two part-time staff: Mrs Tracey Howarth (Secretary to the Trustees) and Mrs Emma Le Poidevin (Grants Administrator).

The Trustees meet quarterly in March, June, September and December.  A Sub-Committee has been established to deal with day to day grant applications and this meets every 6-8 weeks and has delegated power to make grants of up to £5,000 each.  The next Sub-Committee meeting will be held on 7th March 2016.  We would be grateful if all applications could be submitted by 1st March 2016. 

The Trust prefers to assist charities and other non-profit/voluntary groups whose work benefits people living in Devon and Cornwall, plus South Somerset, West Somerset and Taunton Deane.  It is very unlikely that the Trust will support work in North Somerset, Bristol, Bath or other locations outside its preferred area unless a clear benefit to the area can be demonstrated in the application.  Please see the Policies page for further details.

The Trust does not make grants directly to individuals.  If you are an individual in need of support and living in Devon, you may wish to approach The Gibbons Trusts. Please note that the Gibbons Trusts require all individual applicants to have references.

Most grants are made for a specific project identified by the Trustees and are thus restricted to use for that purpose.  The Trustees also like to be kept informed of the progress of the cause supported.  Please see our application guidance for further information about the Trust’s reporting requirements.  

If you would like to make an application, please use the Trust's application form, which is available from this web site.  In order to be fair to all applicants, Trustees will only consider one application per organisation during the current financial year unless there are very exceptional circumstances.  You are welcome to re-apply after 1st April.

The Charity has its own funds endowed by the Norman Family.  It does not undertake any fundraising activities and does not have any volunteer workers.
